On Wednesday July 4th  Chandlers Building Supplies hosted an event to raise awareness and funds for a Brighton charity that helps the homeless. Off The Fence

The event at the builders’ merchants on Basin Road North celebrated the newly extended branch and attracted the support of local councillor, Robert Nemeth, neighbour Fat Boy Slim (Norman Cook) and Celeb FC – a non-profit organisation which provides Celebrities for small UK charities without charge, enabling them to have access to fundraising capabilities usually reserved for those with PR budgets; who brought along Big Brother 2016 winner Jason Burrill who sportingly played goalie for a ‘beat the goalie’ competition and Simon Cowell Look-alike Andy Penfold who posed for photos with the fun day attendees..

A cooked BBQ breakfast by the Big Beach Cafe plus a raffle to win a coveted signed Albion football shirt also helped fill the charity’s collection buckets.

Sue McKinney of Chandlers Building Supplies said: “We are delighted to support the great work of everyone at Off The Fence, a charity dedicated to helping local homeless people. Our thanks go to the generosity of all customers and neighbours who supported the event, to the fabulous Big Beach Café for providing a free breakfast to encourage donations and to Celeb FC for providing ‘Simon Cowell’ and Jason Burrill.”

Donna Williamson of Off The Fence said: “We are over the moon with the support of Chandlers Building Supplies and the local community. This amazing donation will make a big difference to the homeless community in Brighton.”

A bit more background –
The homeless situation in Brighton has escalated to an unprecedented level and is now a very real and devastating issue for far too many in the city.

Off the Fence is a charity operating at the front line of homelessness in Brighton. It is providing practical and emotional support to the many that find themselves in this ‘hopeless’ situation. In particular its Hygiene Van provides some of the very basics in personal care to the homeless people.

Being in the business of building, Chandlers’ truly believe ‘everyone deserves a roof over their head’.
#CelebFC believe that small charities should have access to celebrities and people in the public eye such as sports people etc without prohibitive costs, so they can raise their profiles without having to lay out money they simply don’t have for PA / PR /Venue /Event Company fee’s.

Finally – a great BIG thank you to Big Beach Cafe for the great #vegetarian Breakfast Bap for #CelebFC Founder Karin Flower …
